Citizens for a Pro-Business Delaware Celebrates Chancery Court Chancellor Andre Bouchard’s Retirement Five Years Early; Calls on Governor Carney to Appoint Diverse Replacement

Grassroots activist group pledges new education campaign to ensure diverse candidates are considered and nominated to Delaware’s top courts.

WILMINGTON, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, following the news that Delaware Chancellor Andre G. Bouchard will retire at the end of April, five years before his term ends, Citizens for a Pro-Business Delaware (CPBD) campaign manager Chris Coffey released the following statement:

“Chancellor Bouchard is exactly the reason we have been so strongly advocating for reforms that would bring much-needed transparency to the Chancery Court – at every turn, he has opted for secrecy over transparency and protected the elite Delaware old boys’ club rather than welcoming accountability and diversity. As Chancellor Bouchard’s reign on the Chancery Court comes to an end, we hope the new court will finally embrace the common-sense reforms we’ve proposed to rebuild trust in the judicial system.”
