Al Sharpton beckons Elon Musk into Delaware’s craziest court drama

Sharpton’s been trying to get Joe Biden to help change the composition of the Chancery Court. He thinks Musk’s Twitter acquisition drama could make him an ally too.

For years, Rev. Al Sharpton has been on the front lines of one of the most bizarre, under-the-radar, quasi-lobbying efforts in Washington: An attempt to overhaul an obscure Delaware business court that wields power over some of the country’s largest corporate transactions.

Sharpton has already leaned on the world’s most powerful man — Delaware native son and President Joe Biden — to help the cause of shaking up the Court of Chancery. Now he and the group behind the campaign, Citizens for Judicial Fairness, are turning to the world’s richest man — Elon Musk — for a hand, too.

With the Tesla CEO’S bid to acquire Twitter seemingly headed for litigation and, more specifically, a likely date before the Chancery Court, Sharpton and Citizens for Judicial Fairness are looking to enlist Musk in their efforts.

“We’d be insane not to use any issue we could,” said a person involved in the upcoming campaign.
